Our Chosen Song:

In the end we decided to go with Bunny Lee's 'Jamie wont you please come home'. The reason for us choosing this particular song instead of the other option we had in mind which was Amanda Kaletsky 'Everything Lies' was because as a team we both decided that our chosen song could offer us a lot more ideas on various narrative stories we could produce for our final music video. We wanted an unexpected narrative within our music video and drafting ideas for both songs allowed us to decide that Bunny Lee's song was a good choice. We also wanted some sort of love story within our music video and the fact that 'Jamie wont you please come home' is based upon a young girl singing about a boy and pleading with him to come home made the song the obvious choice. Along with this we felt that Amanda Kaletsky's 'Everything Lies' was quite repetitive and therefore this would be another reason to why it would have been harder to create a unique storyline for this particular song. Finally, after much thought we came to the conclusion that as we are creating an Indie Music Video the target audience tends to be from the ages of around 16-24 and therefore believed the issues raised in 'Jamie wont you please come home' such as love, loneliness, and heartbreak all would relate to people of this age group in particular.

Below is a short video of what various people liked or disliked about our song choice:

Permission Letter

We messaged the artist 'Bunny Lee' as we were keen on using her song and wanted to ask her what opinion she had on us using it for our music video.
Below is the email we sent to the artist:

Plans and Decisions

Plans and Decisions

Initial ideas for the narrative of our music video:

Initial ideas for music video media

We finally agreed that our narrative within our music video should be based on a young girl 'Bunny', who is distraught after her boyfriend 'Jamie' leaving her and believes he has left her for another women. However, this is not the case and towards the end of the music video we find out what really happened to 'Jamie'.

Storyboard

Just below is our script of the lyrics and the our ideas on what we would like to film for this particular song:

28 SECONDS OF MUSIC ] --- Quick flashes of Bunny’s memories of her and Jamie. On the seventh second, close up of her eyes opening. Goes back to memories.

‘…I Am So Sure You Left Me To Dry With These Roses…’ ] --- Close up of Bunny’s lips, miming this line.

‘…That You Gave Me Before You Went On A Plane…’ ] --- Shot of feet walking to pick up roses on doorstep. Close up of card saying ‘Dear Bunny, I’m Sorry…’

‘…Oh You Went To Chicago To Be With The Girl You Don't Know,

And Left Me In St. Paul To Be With The Ghost In Our Home…’ ] --- Shot of Bunny in living room, smashing and throwing objects around her. She picks up a broken picture and sees Jamie and another girl and throws It back onto the floor. The camera zooms into it and shows that the picture is really of Jamie and Bunny, and she imagined the other girl.

‘OH OH OH, OH OH OH, OH OH OH…] --- Bunny’s lips miming but a different shade of lipstick on each ‘OH’.

‘…I Am So Sure That All Guys Like You Are The Same

As I Walk Down The Streets Everything Just Reminds Me…’ ] --- Clip of Bunny surrounded by people in a busy place, she keeps on thinking she is seeing Jamie but it’s her imagination.

‘…That You Went To Chicago To Be With The Girl You Don't Know,

And Left Me In St.Paul’s To Be With The Ghost In Our Home

OH OH OH, OH OH OH, OH OH OH…’ ] --- Bunny walks by ‘Chicago’ in the theatre, a close up of her looking annoyed at the sign, and then a wide shot of her standing outside the theatre and people walking around her, speeded up as if she is frozen in time.

‘…Jamie Won't You Please, Jamie Won't You Please Come Home

Jamie Won't You Please, Jamie Won't You Please Come Home…’ ] --- Bunny grabbing her hair in fustration in the crowds of people, mis matched shots from different angles to show her mind is all over the place.

‘OH OH OH, OH OH OH, OH OH OH] --- Bunny’s lips miming.

‘…I've Kept All These Photos, I Keep All These Photos Of Us,

I've Kept All These Photos, I Keep All These Photos Of Us…’ ] --- Memories of her and Jamie, giving the video and upbeat feel.

‘…But You Went To Chicago To Be With The Girl You Don't Know,

And Left Me In St.Paul To Be With The Ghost In Our Home…’ ] --- Shot of Bunny finding plane tickets, assuming they were for Jamie and the girl he ran away with.

‘OH OH OH, OH OH OH, OH OH OH] --- Quick shots showing loads of different parts of the video already.

‘…Jamie Won't You Please Come Home,

Jamie Won't You Please Come Home,

Jamie Won't You Please Come Home…’ ] --- Shots to show how Bunny was actually going crazy; the roses weren’t from him but from someone sending her flowers to say sorry for Jamie dying. Plane tickets that where found was for Bunny, Jamie bought them for them, but she assumed they where for him and someone else.

Final decision for the two main actors within our music video:

Above are two images of ideas both me and my partner wrote about who we could have as actors within our music video, and what we expect from the characters, therefore making it easier in deciding who would be perfect for both roles.

Final Choices:

Images of final actors for our music video:

After completing our script we then knew what locations we would have to use in order to make our music video look as realistic as possible and create the desired effect. Therefore, we decided on four locations and below are some images of the locations we are planning to use:

We decided to use three main locations for our music video. The three locations being my house, Oxford street and Earlham street in West London for the theatre filming. The clips that will be filmed within my house will be clips such as the close up of Bunny's miming, shot of Bunny picking up roses, and shots of Bunny smashing up object in her room in frustration. We chose to use my house for the shooting of these particular clips as my house is an easy enough location for actors and my team member to reach. We chose to use Oxford street as one of our locations as it is a perfect location for the shots of Bunny surrounded by people in a busy place, where she believes she is seeing Jamie. Finally we are using the location near Chicago theatre in West London as we wanted within the song there are the lyrics 'You went to Chicago...' and this then links up with the Chicago theme in our song.
